Pateros plans to innoculate 50,000 residents
Pateros plans to vaccinate 50,000 out of 80,000 residents, Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III said in a report by Manila Bulletin.
Pateros is allotting P20 million for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination of its residents.
In an interview over DZMM, Ponce said they are now starting an online registration for free COVID-19 vaccines.
“Nasa stage po kami ng online registration, ngayon po ang nagpapa-register ay wala pang isang libo. Ang tao po ay choosy din, sila ay namimili, tinatanong kung anong klaseng bakuna ang ating ibibigay, eto po ay masusi naming pinag-aaralan (We are currently in the online registration stage, but we only have less than a thousand registrants. People are choosy, they are asking what kind of vaccine they will receive, so we are carefully studying it),” the mayor said.
“We have to embark a massive education campaign para maunawaan talaga ng mga tao yung bakuna dahil [sa] kanilang fear (so they could understand what the vaccines are for),” he added.
Ponce assured that the local government will prioritize the vaccination of medical frontliners once the vaccines have arrived in Pateros.
