Supreme Court allows trial of Pateros' claim over Fort Bonifacio
The Supreme Court has allowed a legal battle involving the town of Pateros and the cities of Taguig and Makati over the ownership of lands in Fort Bonifacio Area to proceed to court trial.
The decision, issued in April 2023 under the case number GR # 220824, outlines the course of action that will be taken.
The Supreme Court clarified that the previous ruling, which granted disputed lands to Taguig, applies only to Taguig and Makati, and does not include the municipality of Pateros as a party in the case.
As a result, the court has ordered the retrial of Pateros' case against Taguig, directing it to be returned to the Regional Trial Court of Pasig City Branch 271. This retrial will provide Pateros with the opportunity to present evidence and documents supporting its claim that the contested lands rightfully belong to them.
Currently, the legal proceedings are eagerly anticipated, and preparations are being made for the upcoming trial. The people of Pateros are united in their pursuit of justice and have placed their faith in the legal system. They seek guidance from a higher power to ensure that truth and fairness prevail in the end.
The trial will serve as a critical phase in determining the rightful ownership of the Bonifacio Global City and Fort Bonifacio Area. It is a matter of significant importance, as the outcome will impact the economic and cultural landscape of the involved municipalities.
As the legal battle unfolds, both Pateros and the opposing parties, Taguig and Makati, are encouraged to approach the proceedings with transparency and respect for the court's decision. The Regional Trial Court of Pasig City will provide a neutral platform for the presentation of evidence and arguments, ultimately determining the resolution of the disputed lands.
