Active Covid cases in Pateros reach 14

The Municipality of Pateros, the smallest local government unit in Metro Manila with an estimated population of 70,000, recorded 14 active Covid-19 cases, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

Data from the Pateros municipal government showed that on June 21, the municipality added six new Covid-19 cases, zero recoveries, and zero deaths to bring the total active cases to 14, up by nine cases or 180 percent compared to five active cases tallied on June 15.

Of the total 14 active cases, 11 are listed in Barangay Sta. Ana, and one each in Martirez Del 96, Santo Rosario-Kanluran and Santo Rosario-Silangan.

Twelve active cases are asymptomatic and two are mild cases. Thirteen are under isolation while one is for isolation.

Pateros has recorded 9,966 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 9,839 recoveries and 113 deaths since the pandemic started in 2020.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported that from June 13 to 19, the country tallied 3,051 new Covid-19 cases, or a daily average of 436, an increase of 82 percent compared to 1,682 new cases from June 6 to 12.

Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III had earlier expressed alarm over the resurgence of Covid-19 in the municipality after having zero cases for a long time.

He urged the public to follow minimum public health standards including the wearing of face masks, frequent hand-washing, and social distancing of at least one meter.
