Pateros’ Covid-19 status is now at a moderate risk level after the number of cases grew by more than 200 percent, the Department of Health (DOH) said in a report by Manila Bulletin.

Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a public briefing on PTV 4 on June 25 that Pateros, Pasig, San Juan, Quezon and Marikina are now at a moderate risk level.

“Kaya po sila napunta sa moderate risk classification dahil nag-umpisa po tayo sa mga mabababang kaso nung mga past weeks tapos biglang nagkaroon sila ng kaso that’s why their growth rate began to increase. Nagkaroon ng more than 200 percent (The reason why they went to a moderate risk classification is because we started from a low number of cases in the past weeks and then suddenly they had cases that’s why their growth rate began to increase. They had more than 200 percent),” said Vergeire.

Based on the DOH Covid-19 Tracker, as of June 25, Pateros added five new Covid-19 cases to bring its total active cases to 12.

Based on the Tracker, Pateros had eight new cases from June 16 to 22 from four new cases from June 9 to 15. It had a four-week moving average of 2.3.

Pateros is the smallest local government unit in the National Capital Region (NCR) with an estimated population of just 70,000.

The Pateros municipal government reported on June 21 that it added six new Covid-19 cases to bring the total active cases to 14.

The DOH and local government units have different data on Covid-19 numbers.

“Computation po iyan at hindi po kailangang mabahala pero kailangan vigilant tayo lahat (That is a computation and we don’t need to be alarmed but we all need to be vigilant),” said Vergeire.

She said the positivity rate in the NCR is more than five percent but this does not mean that the region’s alert level will be upgraded.

“Mas binibigyan po natin ng weight ito pong hospital admissions natin because we know that the Covid-19 will really cause infections, wag lang ngang severe and critical, wag lang itaas ang admissions sa mga ospital (We give more weight to our hospital admissions because week now that the Covid-19 will really cause infections, but hopefully not severe and critical, and not cause hospital admissions to increase),” she said.
